Child Payments Are Now Being Dolled Out

The cheques are in the mail or the money’s being deposited to bank accounts.

Monday is the day the federal government’s first lumpsum child care benefit of about $500 per child will be handed out to parents nation-wide.

The total payout will be $3-billion.

The newly increased child care benefit pays almost $2,000 every year for each child under 6 and $720 for each child aged 6 through 17.

About 3.8-million families will benefit.
