The cheques are in the mail or the money’s being deposited to bank accounts.
Monday is the day the federal government’s first lumpsum child care benefit of about $500 per child will be handed out to parents nation-wide.
The total payout will be $3-billion.
The newly increased child care benefit pays almost $2,000 every year for each child under 6 and $720 for each child aged 6 through 17.
About 3.8-million families will benefit.
