The Dryden Fire Service had to deal with 2 rural home chimney fires Thursday.
The second chimney fire required firefighters to shut down the wood heat furnace and forced the homeowner to move for the night.
Smoke and water damage was minimal.
Deputy Fire Chief Ken Kurz says the warm January has people burning wood more slowly, which is causing dangerous creosote buildup that can catch fire quickly.
Kurz reminds homeowners to clean and inspect chimney’s on a regular basis.
