Christina McIvor
February 25, 1948 – June 28, 2011
Christina passed away, peacefully at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital, with her family by her side at sunrise on June 28, 2011.
Christina was a quiet, sensitive lady, who loved to spend time with her grandsons and family. She was quiet-natured, gentle and soft-spoken, who loved animals, plants and flowers. Christina loved to travel the countryside, attending yard sales and Bingo.
She was dedicated and loved her work, at Tikinagan Family Services. In her younger days, she was a Welfare Administrator, and Band Manager for Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation. She also worked at the Dryden Native Friendship Centre and the Aboriginal Women’s Centre in the Social Work area. Christina was a N.N.A. DAP worker, for Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation.
Christina is survived by her son,Jason (Emily) McIvor and his father Richard McIvor Sr., grandsons; Matthew McIvor, Daniel Cantin, sisters Melvina Pitchenese, Betty (Roy) Napish, Barbara Pitchenese, nephews Sheldon (Miranda) Morrison, Clayton Morrison, nieces; Alyson (Christian) Ogimah, Winter Napish, Debbie McLeod, and Uncle Archie Alto.
Christina was predeceased by infant daughter Miranda McIvor, her parents Peter and Jean Pitchenese, grandparents Jim & Maggie Pitchenese, John & Maggie Alto, aunts; Florence Zoccole, Marguerite Bright, Siami Alto, brothers; Peter Pitchenese, James Pitchenese, uncles; John Alto, Stanley Alto
Visitation will be held from Wednesday, June 29th, 2011, from 5:00 p.m.
until time of service at the Wabigoon Lake Band Office.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday July 1st, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wabigoon Lake Band Office with a Native Elder officiating.
Interment to follow in the Wabigoon First Nation Cemetery.
