City council pays tribute to Chuck Schmitt

Members of Dryden City Council are fondly remembering Chuck Schmitt.

He died earlier this month.

Councilor Martin McKinnon says he will be greatly missed.

“Chuck was a wonderful person and he did so much for this community that people have no idea that he did,” MacKinnon told city council at the open meeting this week.

“Just the hospital equipment fund and the lottery they run. That was Chuck Schmitt. It’s left a huge hole in their organization.”

Councilor Bill Latham added to the sentiments expressed by his fellow councilors.

“Chuck was involved in so many things in this community. He’s going to be a hard person to replace. He was involved in hockey and every other sport probably in Dryden.”

Schmitt was the recruitment and fundraiser for the Dryden Regional Health Center.
