City Looking at Getting Out of Alarm Monitoring

It may be seen by some as an ‘alarming’ move.
Dryden Police and DMTS are looking to get out of the alarm monitoring business and a vote on the move is expected next Monday.
City Manager Joe van Koeverden says Council approval would result in the termination of service next April.
Van Koeverden says the move is the result of an out-of-date system and a $100,000 bill to replace the system.
Van Koeverden says local alarm service providers would pick up the slack, but notes the move may extend the response time for police and other emergency services.
He adds at least one local provider has indicated they would cover all customer related costs of moving from the fixed monitoring service to their dial-up service and taking over the account.
The City has 85 paying accounts.
