City Manager Leaving Dryden For CAO Position

Dryden is losing its City Manager.
Joe van Koeverden has announced that he’s accepted the CAO position of the small central Ontario town of Asphodel-Norwood, near Peterbourough.
He says the main reason for his decision is to be closer to his kids and other family.
Van Koeverden says he has given four-weeks notice, and his last day will be April 12th.
He starts his new job on April 22nd.
Van Koeverden was named City Manager in June 2011.
His main task was helping Dryden through difficult financial times as well as realigning municipal services.
Van Koeverden notes the financial situation in Dryden did add some extra stress but says he was able to work through it.
He was also responsible in handling the sale of Dryden Telephone and DMTS.
Council will discuss a possible replacement during the closed portion of tonight’s council meeting, and van Koeverden says one option is naming an interim City Manager to fill in during the search for a replacement.
That person can be from within the City ranks or from outside.
