City Shares Re-Branding Story with Dryden Rotarians

A community of families, leaders, surrounded by nature and building a bright future.

That’s what the City of Dryden’s re-brand aims to reflect and the Rotary Club of Dryden got an inside look at what went into the process.

With old signage now replaced with new branding across the city, the City of Dryden’s Tyler Peacock spoke virtually with club about how the new logo best represents Dryden, the city of the North.

“The arrow marks the direction, the compass ring symbolizes the region, and our place, the wilderness and the trees surround us, the type face demonstrates strength and acceleration.”

Peacock goes on to say the empty space represents the open trail or path that community members choose to take.

“The goal of the rebrand is to distinguish Dryden apart from other municipalities. We wanted a more modern and professional corporate image to display, we wanted to establish standards and consistency for that image, but also develop an image that staff, council and the community can take pride in.”

When it comes to ‘Blaze Your Trail’ Peacock says community members’ thoughts and creating a brand story for Dryden played a big part in developing that tag line.

“Dryden is a community in motion, we’re surrounded by nature connected to the outdoors, lakes, parks, trails, we identify trails (in the statement). Leading the way to a bright future are trail blazers, those are leaders in our community so the act of blazing trails is needed too. Every word in our brand story connects with that statement.”

Re-branding consultations started in June 2019 when the process itself got the green light, as part of the City’s general operating budget in addition to available funding.

“We started with a three part community engagement process, to learn from different community members what Dryden means to them. We had consultants in our community too, open houses and one full day of an intense focus group.”

The City now has several variations of the new logo for Indigenous Peoples Day, Remembrance Day, Canada Day and Pride, to be inclusive of all community members.

The re-branding of the the logos, slogan ‘Blaze Your Trail’ and new signage approved by City council in November 2019.
