Are you looking for some of the best 2000s movies to watch?
Legally Blonde is the first movie that pops into my mind when I think of the 2000s. It’s the kind of movie you can watch over and over again and never get tired of.
The movie was released on July 13, 2001, and it follows Elle Woods, known as the “popular girl” who wears pink all day, every day, and has the boyfriend that everyone dreams of being with. When her boyfriend, Warner, breaks up with her because he “needs someone serious” and heads to Harvard Law School, Elle applies to Harvard Law to get him back.
If you’re looking for a great movie franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean is the answer.
The first film, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, was released in 2003, and since then, there have been four more movies.
Of course, the movie follows pirate Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, who embarks on an adventure with blacksmith Will Turner after Elizabeth Swann, the daughter of the governor, is kidnapped.
One of the best early 2000s movie series, in my opinion. It has a great cast and an amazing original soundtrack, with music composed by Klaus Badelt and produced by Hans Zimmer.
If you’re feeling something more romantic, why not go back to a staple of the romance genre — The Notebook?
I’ve probably watched this movie over five times, and the two characters, Noah and Allie, played by Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, have some of the best chemistry in film. Nothing really compares to this 2004 movie.
Allie, who lives a wealthy life, one day bumps into small-town boy Noah. At first, she’s hesitant, but she instantly falls in love with him and they become inseparable. After a summer of young love, things take a turn for the worse, but years go by and they find each other again.
If you’re looking for some more sci-fi and action, why not watch Avatar?
After all, the 2009 film is the highest-grossing movie of all time, and since then, Avatar: The Way of Water was released in 2022. The third movie, Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to release on Dec. 19, 2025, so it might not be a bad idea to go back and watch the original this weekend.
