A State of Climate Emergency has been declared by Grand Council Treaty 3.
Area leaders approved the declaration at their Fall Assembly.
The move is in response to ongoing concerns about climate change in the country and around the world.
Grand Chief Francis Kavanaugh believes the emergency declaration will help improve lobbying efforts and raise awareness to the dire state of the environment on a local, national and global scale.
