Clinic to go Public

Fort Frances town council continue to support the motion to make the town clinic a publicly owned operation.

At Monday’s town council meeting, John McTaggart, Chair of the Fort Frances Community Clinic presented terms and conditions to the proposed financial agreement.

The agreement requests that the town lend $1 million dollars to the not-for-profit organization, which is community owned and community based.

McTaggart discussed the issue of physician shortages in the town, and the extended wait period for patients to get appointments at the current clinic.

He says a publicly owned clinic will minimize these issues and encourage doctors to move their practices to the town of Fort Frances.
