The Ontario Electricity Coalition is hoping to stop the opening up of the hydro market in the province, scheduled for May 1st.
The group is encouraging residents to petition their local councils, politicians and business people fearing deregulation will mean much higher prices for consumers.
Paul Kahnert, a spokesman for the coalition, has been travelling across the province encouraging residents to speak out.
He stopped in Dryden over the weekend.
Kahnert says there is absolute chaos with thousands of people signing up with retailers thinking they will be paying lower prices for power.
He adds many companies are lobbying the province trying to stop deregulation but some are doing it privately since they helped the government get elected in the first place.
