Cold Weather Coming To An End

The Extreme Cold Warning is expected to last at least one more day.

Geoff Coulson from Environment Canada says if there is any good news, the cold snap should end this weekend.

“We can see light at the end of the tunnel,” confirms Coulson.

“We’ve got a cold night in store for us tonight and Friday morning. Still on the chilly side Friday night into Saturday morning, but after that as we head further into the weekend we do start to see temperatures moderating towards the seasonal norms for this time of year.”

The normal high for this time of year is -6 and the normal low is -16.

Coulson points out that we haven’t seen the last of the cold weather though.

“We’re getting towards the end of the coldest weather but unfortunately, in terms of looking at some of the longer range forecast models, the models looking at what the temperature trends are going to be like for the month of March, there are actual indications that we may be in fact a little bit colder than normal overall.”

Despite the recent cold snap, the average temperature this past month is near near normal.
