Concern Among ‘Sandwich Generation’

A new report finds the cost of caring for aging parents is turning life upside down for a growing number of Ontario families.
The study focuses on people with at least one dependent child who financially support at least one aging parent; the so-called “sandwich generation”.
Laurie Campbell, Executive Director of the not-for-profit counseling agency Credit Canada, says the problem is getting worse, and for many, there are life-changing consequences.
The study, co-sponsored by Capital One Canada, finds almost half of this group in Ontario worry they won’t be able to afford their children’s education because it costs so much to support their parents.
Tuesday marks the beginning of Financial Literacy Month.
