The Liberal government is under attack for the way it’s handling mining in northern Ontario.
Vic Fedeli of the Progressive Conservatives says Ontario’s credibility in mining has been taking a hit over the last decade.
Fedeli says in 2003 Ontario was ranked number one in mining, now we are number 16.
Fedeli also notes that the Far North Act has cut off half of northern Ontario from being explored, causing many companies to move out of the province.
He adds that even companies involved in the Ring of Fire are nervous about the Liberals imposing a new tax on them like they did when the Victor diamond mine opened in Attawapiska
