The opposition is calling it the Ring of Smoke.
The Conservatives are accusing the provincial government of bungling the Ring of Fire mining project in Northern Ontario.
Tory critic Lisa MacLeod says the government hasn’t done enough to ensure the viability of the project.
MacLeod says the Ring of Fire has become the most expensive spending scandal in Ontario and the government has failed to take advantage of the $60-billion potential of the project.
Northern Development and Mines minister Michael Gravelle says a lot of progress has been made over the past six months, including the creation of the Ring of Fire Development Corporation.
Gravelle also points to a $1-billion investment promise to expand infrastructure into the region.
