Conservatives Lose Another Key Vote

The Federal Conservatives have lost another key NDP vote in their bid to scrap the long-gun registry.
Sudbury MP Glenn Thibeault says he will no longer back the Tory private member’s bill that has pitted urban voters and politicians against their rural counterparts.
12-New Democrat MP’s earlier supported the Tory motion to scrap the registry, but last week, Charlie Angus said he would change his vote.
NDP Leader Jack Layton favours keeping the registry, but also says he wants to unite rural and urban voters by bringing in reforms to make the registry more effective.
Since the Liberals have said they will all vote against the Legislation in the Commons later this month and the Bloc is also opposed, the Tories need the NDP votes to pass the bill.
