Contract Impasse For Ontario Nurses

Ontario teachers aren’t the only workers trying to get a new contract.

Provincial nurses are the latest to run into a brick wall.

The Ontario Nurses’ Association says talks with the Ontario Hospital Association have broken down.

The union says a number of issues remain unsettled because of the constraints placed on bargaining by Bill 124.

The ONA is among several labour groups involved in a Charter challenge of the legislation which limits wage increases to one per cent for all public sector workers.
