Coronavirus Threat Low In Canada

The Trudeau government is trying to reassure Canadians the risk of getting the coronavirus remains very low.

Health Minister Patty Hajdu says the fact there are some cases in our country under further examination shows our system is working.

“I feel assured that the processes that we’ve put into place, that we’ve learned since the experience of SARS years ago, are actually functioning just as they should.”

Hajdu says public health and medical professionals are working together and are following protocol.

The Thunder Bay-Superior North MP notes there are screening measures at national airports, but those could be expanded when they learn more about the virus.

There are no confirmed cases here in Canada.

China’s National Health Commission has confirmed it is dealing with 830 cases of the new virus and 26 deaths.
