The Communities of Pickle Lake and Sioux Lookout are asking the
Province to address the soaring cost of policing.
Both Municipalities have a sizable police (OPP) presence with taxpayers
footing a good portion of the bill.
Pickle Lake Mayor Roy Hoffman says they can’t afford to pay anymore and they are facing a financial crisis.
The Town pays $2,200 per household while Sioux Lookout pays $1,200.
Hoffman adds he wants to work with the Province to develop a formula
that is within the Communities ability to pay.
