Cost Saving Deal for AbitibiBowater

Roughly 400 woodlands workers who supply logs and chips to AbitibiBowater’s Thunder Bay pulp, newsprint and lumber
operations are taking a pay cut and making other concessions.
A new 3-year contract, to take effect November 1st, will slash hourly wages by a $1.50, make overtime less available
and reduce benefit provisions.
Workers currently earn around $27 per hour.
It’s all in an attempt to keep the company afloat.
