The cost of eating healthy is steep according to the annual
Northwestern Health Unit food basket survey.
27-grocery stores participated in this years program and the cost of
feeding a family of four came in at $697 a month, an increase of
over 17% since 1998.
Public Health Nutritionist Jennifer Maki says its time for the
Government to step up and support people in need.

Maki says income has not kept pace with the cost of nutritious food
as minimum wage has only gone up 8.75% over the past 9-years.
