A Fort Frances man has been ordered to pay $4,600 in fines for illegally hunting moose.
John Koles has pleaded guilty to two charges issued last November after the Ministry of Natural Resources was called about an abandoned moose, east of Fort Frances.
Court was told Koles informed conservation officers another man had shot the moose under the authority of treaty rights.
It was later revealed Koles shot the animal without a license and returned six hours later with the individual who planned to claim it.
