Costly Hunting Trip For Group Of Ontario Men

Seven Ontario men have been fined a total of $19,250 for moose hunting offences west of Thunder Bay. The charges stem from an October 2016 hunting trip in the Brule Creek Road area. The men were fined for hunting moose without a licence, attaching a calf game seal to a cow moose, possessing illegally killed wildlife and making a false statement to a conservation officer. An investigation found that members of the hunting group were trying to conceal the fact that they had harvested two cow moose and reused a game seal. The hunters were from Barry’s Bay, near Ottawa and Sault Ste. Marie. One of the men has been banned from hunting for one year.
