Costly Lesson For Thunder Bay Area Man

A reminder of the importance of ensuring your brush fires are extinguished. A hard lesson a Thunder Bay area man has learned.

Stephan Schmidt has pleaded guilty and fined $1,000 for starting a fire and failing to keep it under control.

He’s also been ordered to pay the $5,940 cost to extinguish the handful of brush fires he started back on May 20th of last year.

The fires burned roughly 2.6-hectares of land before being put out by fire officials.
