Dryden Councilors have agreed in principle to give up their city paid cell phones but aren’t parting ways with their internet.
Cell phone and internet service was provided free of charge when DMTS was in operation.
Sid Wintle says both services are now an expense for the city.
Wintle says with the City facing tough financial times, it’s only common sense that Council members pay for their own internet and cell phones.
He notes staff are working tirelessly to find savings and stresses Council should do their part to help out.
Some on council believe that internet and e-mail service are both essential in doing their jobs and should be covered by the City.
