Council’s Responsible for Closed Door Investigato

Northwestern Ontario Municipalities will be on the hook for any investigations of Northwestern Health Unit meetings.
Local residents who feel the Health Unit held a closed door meting that unreasonably withheld information can bring the issue up to their local council.
CAO Mark Perrault says they spoke to the Ontario Ombudsman and notes they are not responsible for appointing an investigator.
Last year, the Provincial Government required all municipalities to hire a closed door meeting investigator.
Perrault says the problem is the Health Unit serves 19 municipalities.
