The Federal Government has brought in a mediator in the
nearly three week old Canadian Pacific Railway strike.
Company officials and the employees Teamster’s union
will be speaking for the first time since talks stalled
May 16th.
Local CPR Spokesperson Rick Frenette says there are a
number of contract stumbling blocks.
The Union is asking for a 13 percent pay raise over four
years, while the company is offering a 10 percent increase.
Frenette believes the government is considering
implementing back to work legislation, if a settlement
can’t be reached this week.
