Critical Funding To Ensure Clean/Safe Drinking Water

The federal government is pumping more money into water treatment projects on local first nations.

Almost $2.6-million is being targeted at 38 communities in the Kenora Riding, with the provincial government chipping in another $1.3-million.

The money is earmarked for equipment and plant upgrades and repairs as well as water technology studies.

Eagle Lake First Nation is receiving roughly $99,000, Wabigoon Ojibway Nation $88,000 and Lac Seul First Nation $75,000.

The money comes from the Clean Water Wastewater Fund for First Nations.
