Crystal Meth Blamed For Winnipeg Incident

A 31-year-old Thunder Bay man is in police custody in Winnipeg after he threatened to set himself on fire.

Police were called Tuesday afternoon about a man with a baseball bat behaving erratically.

A short time later he went into a business and doused himself with lighter fluid.

At one point the suspect took what he claimed was crystal meth and told officers to shoot him while threatening to ignite himself with a lighter.

A tactical support squad was called in and they were able to subdue the man.

Methamphetamine is believed to have played a role in the incident.
