Premier Doug Ford is promising an end to so-called hallway medicine, but the union that represents hospital workers in Ontario doesn’t believe that.
Canadian Union of Public Employees spokesperson Michael Hurley predicts it will be difficult for the government to save money, yet improve health care.
Hurley says it can’t be done with other pledges of significant income tax reductions, accounting changes and spending cuts.
Hurley says compared to other provinces, Ontario is at the bottom when it comes to health care spending and he doesn’t see that changing anytime soon.
