The curling soap opera has reached a disappointing conclusion as the
newly formed Dryden District Curling Club has been forced to cancel the
2006-2007 season.
Spokesperson Brian Meadows says attempts to repair the ice-plant
condenser at Eagles Landing were unsuccessful.
Meadows says they are now looking to re-start curling in November.
Meadows notes the decision is disappointing given the commitment shown
by local curlers and the club’s executive.
He says they have asked for $10,000 from the City’s
2007 budget and are exploring other funding options to ensure curling
remains viable in Dryden.
