Curling Week In Northern Ontario

It’s a chance to showcase the sport of curling and increase its visibility.

That’s the purpose of the 7th Annual “Curling Week in Northern Ontario”, which is underway at clubs across the region, including Sioux Lookout.

Northern Ontario Curling Association Executive Director Leslie Kerr says they are encouraging people to get out and try curling.

Kerr says one of their goals is to get more youth interested in the sport, noting they are the future of the sport.

She believes the curling is starting to grow again in the north, with the emergence of the Brad Jacobs and Tracy Fleury rinks.

A number of prizes will be handed out after the week long initiative including airline tickets from Bearskin Airlines and a 2016 Brier weekend ticket and accommodation package.
