The American Government is tightening up regulations for boaters
wanting to cross into the American side of Lake of the Woods and Rainy Lake.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency requires all private
boaters to report to the nearest port of entry.
Spokesperson Mike Milne says boaters will also be required to be in
possession of a new crossing permit, called the i-68.
Milne says 3 video-phones are accessible in the Lake of the Woods and
International Falls area for Canadian and American residents who need to
report to a customs officer.
