Four airports in Sunset Country could have customs service back in place by this summer.
Dryden, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout and Atikokan did have the CANPASS system in place to clear customs, however that service was suspended following the September 11th terrorist attacks.
Earlier this week, the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency announced customs service would be returning to Kenora, Fort Frances and Rainy River.
However, Dryden Airport Manager George Friesen says based on discussions with federal officials yesterday, customs could return to the four airports left off the list by this summer in time for the busy tourist season.
He adds there is a possibility CANPASS could be reintroduced with the help of federal funding from Fednor.
