Great strides have been made in the ongoing struggle to attract
family doctors to the area.
The Dryden Area Health Services Foundation has released its second
annual progress report.
Chair Brian Kenny says a number of recent moves suggest the City is
moving forward.
Kenny says the creation of a medical bursary, the Hospitals purchase
of the Clinics and the recruitment of an emergency room doctor can all be
considered significant achievements this year.
He says this year they plan on lobbying the Province to create a
Local Family Health Team as well as make it easier for foreign-trained
doctors to practice in rural areas.
