Fire officials and the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service are investigating a major fire on New Osnaburgh First Nation, just south of Pickle Lake.
The fire broke out at the Ten Houses site early Monday morning and the residence was fully engulfed in flames when officers arrived.
3-community members entered the burning building and rescued a young boy trapped on the upper level of the residence.
The 13-year-old was transported to Winnipeg Hospital with second-degree burns to various parts of his body.
The mother and her 5-children were taken to Thunder Bay Hospital for follow-up on treatment for smoke inhalation.
