Fire crews in Thunder Bay were put to the test on the weekend after a man got stuck on Mount McKay.
Firefighters spent more than 8-hours fighting dark and slippery conditions and wicked terrain to rescue the 24-year-old.
Officials say the man was attempting a speed-wing parachute jump when something went wrong and he crashed.
He is now in hospital with multiple injuries.
Thunder Bay Fire Chief John Hay says the man will not have to pay the costs for his rescue.
Hay says even though the effort lasted 8 hours, and was one of the most complex they’ve ever done, charging someone isn’t normal practice.
Hay adds the extra costs for the risky rescue were minimal, amounting to overtime for some off duty technicians
