He will be lovingly remembered by his 7 children, David (Ingrid), Calgary; Garry (Kwanjai), Nipigon; Rod, Fort Frances; Scott, Calgary; Lynne, Black Diamond; Ruth (Nelson), Balmertown and Janet (Ralf), Dryden, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
David joined the Ontario Provincial Police in 1953. While posted in Schreiber, Ontario he met his wife Mildred while patrolling in Rossport, Ontario. Through his 33 year career with the O.P.P he and Mildred shared postings in Thunder Bay, Nipigon, Waterdown, Atikokan and Dryden, where they retired.
During Mom and Dad’s retirement they enjoyed holidaying, travelling to visit family and friends, spectating at one of their grandchildren’s sporting events, volunteering in the community and of course golfing.
The past five years have been difficult for Dad with the sudden passing of his best friend, Mildred on August 2, 2007.
Grandpa was extremely honored to present his granddaughter, Brittany her Ontario Provincial Police Constable badge at her graduation ceremony on May 5, 2011. He enjoyed touring the O.P.P museum memorabilia and sharing stories of his years of policing.
Dad always looked forward to a new season of golf. He was fortunate to get in his final season with the help and support of his golfing groups. He truly appreciated and valued his Eagle’s Landing friends.
At Dads request, cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at a later date.
