Given the current economic situation in Dryden, it had the feel of a job interview for the four members of the Dryden Development Corporation.
The DDC updated Council on its current activities at last night’s open Council meeting.
Office Manager Nicole Gale says the DDC is a vital part of the future of Dryden.
Gale says attracting events, business, visitors and activities doesn’t happen on its own.
She notes they have to go out, be aggressive and bring people to the community.
Gale says the focus right now is tourism, sports tourism, bio-energy and mining.
She stresses the DDC accounts for only 3% of the City budget and notes Dryden get’s “good bang for their buck.”
The organization says tourism is an important way to introduce future residents and business prospects to the community.
DDC stats indicate 1,137 visitors in 2012.
Gale stresses their main priority is keeping Dryden investment ready and open for business.
