The criminal trial for former Dryden-area Gunsmith Bruce Montague has
entered its second week.
OPP Forensic Constable Mark Sharpe was on the stand Tuesday and he
discussed his video taping and documenting of the Montague home and his
handling and disposing of explosives.
The Crown witness played his video tape of Montague’s secret room.
Defense Lawyer Doug Christie noted there was a 20-minute gap between
an officer entering the room to take pictures and Sharpe actually entering
to tape.
Christie was also concerned that the OPP did not record the door to the
hidden room being opened.
Sharpe told the Jury he didn’t record the initial entry because
police didn’t know if the room would be safe.
Christie then questioned whether anything was moved when OPP officers located Montague’s hidden room.
The Montague trial will likely continue into next week.
