Desautels Sentencing Scheduled for Today

A Dryden man will learn his fate in a Kenora courtroom today.

39-year-old Justin Desautels is scheduled to be sentenced for his role in two deaths and three assaults at the Arbour Jade Trailer Park in Dryden in March 2020.

Two seniors, 78-year-old Mervin Harvey Brownlee and 72-year Dorothy Brown would die as a result of those attacks.

Desautels plead guilty in August to two counts of Second Degree murder, two counts of break and enter, aggravated assault and causing harm to a peace officer.

The murder charge does bring an automatic life sentence in Canada.

The presiding judge can determine eligibility for parole.
