Detachment Commander receives promotion

OPP will search this fall for a new Detachment Commander for their Rainy River District Detachment.

Former Commander, Inspector Shaun Crabbe, has been promoted to the rank of Superintendent and is now the director of operations for the North West Region.

Acting Inspector Greg Givens is now serving as interim Detachment Commander for the next three months.

In an email to the Fort Frances Police Service Board, Crabbe says the OPP will identify candidates for promotion this fall, working with the board on a final selection of a permanent commander.

Crabbe had been Detachment Commander since July 2021, replacing Nathan Schmidt, who retired that April.

Crabbe began his career with the OPP in 2006 in Grey County.

He also held posts in Pickle Lake, Red Lake, and Kenora.
