DHS Set To Host Annual Pow Wow

Recognizing Indigenous rights and First Nations culture.

That’s a taste of importance of the 22nd Annual Dryden High School Mini Pow Wow being held Friday at Harry McMaster Field.

First Nations, Metis and Inuit Graduation Coach Kieran McMonagle says DHS takes the lead in hosting the event, however stresses the event is open to the entire community.

She notes they have people coming from Red Lake, Kenora as well as Eagle Lake and Wabigoon First Nations.

Opening ceremonies will be held at 10:00am, there will be a Metis Celebration at 10:15, while the Grand Entry is scheduled for 11:30am.

The Pow Wow is expected to wrap up around 2:00pm.

There will be food and drinks available.

McMonagle says the event is a great opportunity for their students to plan something that they can take pride in and share what they have to offer at DHS.
