A young Dryden teen is paying it forward.
Maya Oversby is using the $150 she received from the RBC ‘Make 150 Count’ initiative to purchase numerous canvases, paints, markers and paint brushes for Leanne Nicholson, who travels to remote northern First Nations to teach kids art.
Oversby says helping people and being an active member of the community has always been a passion of her’s.
She says knowing she is helping kids and making a difference is gratifying.
Oversby admits at first she was overwhelmed with ideas and about what she wanted to do with the money, but five months later she heard of a phenomenal story of Nicholson and she knew right then that she wanted to contribute.
Oversby has just completed Grade 11 at Dryden High School.
