Local residents living with type 1 diabetes could be facing a financial setback.
They may not be allowed to receive a Federal disability tax credit of $1,500.
Gabriella Simo of Diabetes Canada admits the news has been a shock to many and a hard hit for people who are paying a large amount of money to manage their disease.
Simo says the prescription costs for some diabetics could hit up to $15,000 a year.
She is encouraging those impacted to contact their local MP and launch an appeal if they are indeed denied the credit.
