Digital Creator North On Display In Sioux Lookout

Community members are being invited to the Sioux Lookout Library Thursday to learn more about the Digital Creator North program.

An open house is being held from 10:00am until 6:00pm with free games, demonstrations, workshops and snacks.

Program Lead Laine Helbling says the program is hosted in six communities in northern Ontario including Sioux Lookout and Kenora and it’s geared towards youth but open to everyone.

Helbling proudly says the Sioux Lookout hub is the smallest, but they have the highest participation rate.

With the guidance of skilled mentors, individuals can learn about film production, photography, audio recording, graphic design, gaming, podcasting, coding, web development and animation.

Helbling adds they offer structured workshops but anyone can just pop by and hang out.

The Trillium-funded pilot project is located in various community spaces and is equipped with the latest digital equipment and technology.

Helbling is hoping the program continues after its two year life and is expanded to other communities including Dryden and Red Lake.

You can find out more by visiting the audio link below and by visiting their Digital Creator North-Sioux Lookout Facebook page.
