Distracted driving has taken over as the number one cause of fatal collisions in Ontario.
The issue is now in the forefront following a recent crash on Highway 17 east of Kenora that went viral.
Video showed the driver of one of the vehicles talking on his cell phone and completely oblivious of what was going on around him.
Provincial Police say 78 people died in distracted driving crashes last year.
That’s compared to 55 for impaired driving and 44 for speed.
The OPP are in the middle of a distracted driving campaign.
Police remind drivers to refrain from texting or talking on the phone while in their vehicle and continue to practice good behaviour on the roads.
On March 18th, the current distracted driving fine of $155 will jump to $280.
