Effective today anyone over the age of 16, crossing into the United States will need to show a secure document.
A passport, enhanced driver’s license or Nexsus card will be the only acceptable forms of identification being accepted by the U-S Customs and Border Services officers.
Officials say because of the publicity surrounding the new regulations, customs officers aren’t expecting many problems.
New technology is in place at border crossings to scan the documents and U.S. Customs says that should reduce the amount of time at the crossing.
