Domtar Announces Layoffs at Ear Falls Mill

Domtar has announced indefinite layoffs at its Sawmill in Ear Falls.
Company Spokesperson Bonny Skene says they will moving their operation from 2-shifts to one effective next Monday.
Skene says 55 of the Mill’s 131-employees will be impacted as will another 58-contract employees in harvesting and hauling operations.
Skene says market conditions have reached a point where the company is required to curtail production to meet customer demand.
She notes Domtar is looking at the best options to ensure the long-term viability of the Mill’s in Ear Falls and Dryden.
