Domtar Mill Fire in Dryden

Quick work by Mill fire crews and the Dryden Fire Service prevented a major fire at the Domtar facility this morning. (Thursday)
Crews were called around 5:30 to extinguish a fire in the chip conveyor system in the chip handling facility.
The fire was burning in a shaft 30-metres above ground and fire fighters had to advance a hose line through smoke roughly 90-metres inside the conveyor system to put out the blaze.
30-firefighters extinguished the fire in roughly 30-minutes.
The cause is under investigation.
